Creative Spaces// Alexa of Alexa Loves Books

Putting together another edition of Creative Spaces, I thought to myself, I really do need to clean my room and figure out what my decor for next semester is. I'm overdue for a cleaning and incredibly behind on sorting out my design inspiration for my dorm room. I'm reading A Beautiful Mess, DesignLoveFest and SFGirlbyBay as well as some other home design blogs so that's got to count right? I just have to save and sort some design inspiration pics that's all. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. If you have any design tips, do let me know because I just realized I'm returning back to school in a little more in a month. Yikes.

I went out with a friend recently and we went into a couple of furniture stores, where we discussed our design styles. I was like, "Minimalistic!" and at the same time, she was like, "You'd have some quirky fabrics and things". Who's right? I don't know but when I do, I'll let you know. Right now, it's largely an amalgamation of functional things, random bowls from Crate and Barrel, and school-mandated furniture.

Anyway, onto this week's feature! I've been following Alexa's blog for what seems like forever and despite seeing her in the flesh at this year's BEA, I've never actually met her. Next time, I keep telling myself! Next time when I gather up whatever courage I have and actually go up to her and say hi. I got this. Someone please teach me how to not be shy, okay?

A little about her...

Hi! I'm Alexa, a 24 (almost 25) year old who currently lives, works & plays in New York City. If there's anything that I'm incredibly passionate about in my life, apart from my loved ones, it's books! I've always been an avid bookworm, as well as an aspiring author. My passion led me to start my blog, Alexa Loves Books, and has only continued to grow over the years. Apart from reading, I love travel, food + movies!

A little about her design style...

I'm fascinated with symmetry and geometry, so I prefer designs that make use of shapes in patterns. Plus, I like a lot of color! You'll never find me in a room that's too minimalist. I need pops of color surrounding me, because that's definitely something that puts me in the right mood.

A little about her space...
I'm very fond of surrounding myself with things I love (like books and candles), as well as memorabilia from past experiences (like ticket stubs + photos). It's a very messy style, at the moment, mostly because my sister and I share a room and have to share space.
As I was putting this together, I realized that Alexa and I are similar. We both keep memorabilia from past experiences (I found a ticket stub from 2009, which is coincidentally the same year I started this blog, on my desk recently-- I'm getting to the cleaning part, okay? I just really like to keep things.) and of course the obvious, books. Also, travel and movies are pretty great, too.

Do you keep past memorabilia? How do you record memories? Do you like pops of color? More importantly, how do you go up to people that you've admired?? You know, for the sake of research purposes...
