A Visit to the Bookstore

I finished all my exams for the week today. Finally! Remember when I said that I went to the bookstore? I finally found the time to edit the photos and write a post.

I went to the bookstore with a fellow book loving friend (I'm convinced that book lovers find each other) and despite the fact we got off at the wrong stop, we finally made it to the bookstore.

So many books, with my favorite classics (hello there Jane Austen). It was a difficult decision to decide what I wanted to buy but I ended up buying Maria Semple's Where'd You Go, Bernadette, which I've been meaning to read for a long time.

It was nice going to an independent bookstore instead of Barnes and Noble (or Amazon, for that matter). While Barnes and Noble and Amazon are usually cheaper, it's nice to be supporting the local economy. I'm probably not going to buy all my books at an indie bookstore, I'm definitely going to be mixing around where I buy books from.

Where did you go this week? What are you looking forward to this weekend?

  1. I love my local book store. I live in this small little town in the mountains and the book store is located downtown so I usually buy from there. It's so pretty and homey in there. They also have two cats they keep in the store. I love it. I went last week and purchased four books I've been dying to read. Your book store also looks very nice!

I'm looking forward to some down time this weekend... hopefully I'll get into a good book! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the book you bought.

  2. Wow, so cool. Indie bookstores are kind of fictional to me, as there are none in my city except for like, used bookstores.

  3. Oh really? Have you searched IndieBound for indie bookstores? Maybe a simple Google search will turn up some?

  4. Cats? It's like Hemingway! I wish mine had cats. Looking forward to the reviews of the books you've bought!

  5. Indie bookstores are like a myth in my country too but there are a few used bookstores that ALMOST make up for it, I guess.
Absolutely adore the first picture-Your photographs make the bookstore look magical!

I haven't read Where'd You Go, Bernadette but it does sound like a charming read-Hope you enjoy it! :)

This weekend for me is going to be a quiet one-Reading in bed. ;)

  6. Awww! Indie bookstores are amazing!
Thank you for your compliment! :) Reading in bed is the best! It's getting colder and snuggling up with my comforter and a book is such a great feeling.

  7. Beautiful blog! I'm a big supporter of my local indie, and it's been a great relationship to have, especially when it comes to in-store author events. I definitely agree, though, I would be broke if I bought exclusively from them...so I definitely bargain hunt at used bookstores and library sales, too.

You made a great choice, though! Bernadette is a fabulous book.
