I came home yesterday, totally oblivious to what happened, until I got onto Twitter. I was bombarded by tweets about gun control and President Obama's speech. What happened?
I went onto Huffington Post and I knew then. It's always tragic when there's a gun shooting, but even more so when it involves elementary school children aged 4 to 10 years old. 27 people are dead and 20 of them are children. I can't help but feel sympathy for the children's families, the families who probably never imagined having their kids taken from them from such an early age. What about the kids who survived? They'll never be the same again. Perhaps they've had their innocence taken away from them. Five year old children don't really understand the concept of death and somehow the children of Newtown will have to understand it.
My heart goes out to the families of Newtown and parents nationwide. Life will never quite be the same again.
